Personality:
While generally laid back and indifferent to the others around him, Alex is actually using his time to study the individuals. He is a very curious person and likes to know his options in every situation. During battle, Alex can be described as a joke. He seems to never take it serious, which could be a diversion to his opponent, or could actually be that he doesn't take a fight seriously in order to make it fun, as Alex loves fun. He can be heard making jokes or giving his opponent details on how to shape up. Only when his family and friends are endangered, while Alex actually take a fight seriously.

Alex has a strong hatred for Vampires (explained in history) but has sworn to Protect and Serve all Preternatural Creatures.

History:

When Alex was born, his father, Marshal Ruler, was a Regional Investigator of Preternatural Crimes. Alex grew to idolize his father's work and his work ethic. Marshal taught Alex that no matter what the criminal had done, the criminal deserved a fair trial. Alex grew to believe this.

At the age of eighteen, Alex finished his training and was going to become his father's partner, when tragedy struck. Alucard and his father entered battle against one another. Alucard won, hands down, ripping Marshal's heart from his chest and devouring it as Alex arrived on the scene, with his gun drawn and firing, Alucard was summoned by Hellsing to return to them. Alex knealt by his father as life faded from his eyes. Even without a heart, Marshal managed to somehow give Alex his Preternatural Law Book and explained to his son, that even the Monsters Needed Protecting. Marshal died in Alex's arms.

Sulking, Alex buried his father and spent weeks trying to discover Hellsing's location only to learn the organization had been destroyed. Marshal had left Alex a large sum of money, which invested in building an organization of his own and laying out the three goals. His hatred for Vampires grew, but Alex still vowed to protect them.

During an odd job, working for an old farmer in the mountains, Alex was paid by the farmer. The farmer also gave him the Escafil Device, which increased his knowledge of technology, and gave him amazing abilities. Alex discovered the abilities he held included absorbing DNA and using it to alter his form and become the creatures whose DNA he absorbed.
